After months of speculation, Apple TV+ has confirmed that Ted Lasso will return for a highly anticipated fourth season, with Jason Sudeikis reprising his role as the endlessly optimistic coach.
The news comes as a welcome surprise to fans, as Season 3 largely wrapped up major storylines—including Ted’s departure from AFC Richmond to return home to Kansas. While the plot details for the new season remain under wraps, Sudeikis hinted at a new theme, stating, “In Season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to leap before they look, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
Alongside Sudeikis, options have been picked up for several key cast members, including Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. However, Apple TV+ has yet to officially confirm the full returning lineup.
Season 4 will also see some changes behind the scenes, with veteran TV producer Jack Burditt (30 Rock, Modern Family) joining as an executive producer. Other longtime collaborators, including Brendan Hunt (who played Coach Beard), Joe Kelly, and Bill Lawrence, remain involved in the creative process.
Since its debut in 2020, Ted Lasso has been a critical and commercial hit, earning 61 Emmy nominations and 13 wins, including multiple awards for Outstanding Comedy Series. Its feel-good message resonated deeply during the COVID-19 pandemic, making it one of Apple TV+’s most beloved originals.
The show’s third season, which aired in 2023, appeared to be its conclusion, leading to widespread uncertainty over its future. However, persistent fan demand—and Apple’s continued support—have paved the way for another season.
With AFC Richmond’s fate hanging in the balance and Ted’s future uncertain, the question remains: will he return to England, or is a new chapter about to unfold?
Apple TV+ has yet to announce a release date for Ted Lasso Season 4.
