Natasha Lyonne Returns as Human Lie Detector in Hit Crime Series
Peacock has officially dropped the first trailer for Season 2 of Poker Face, confirming a May 8, 2025 premiere. The fan-favorite murder-mystery series, created by Rian Johnson and starring Natasha Lyonne, will debut its second season with three episodes, followed by weekly installments every Thursday.
More Twists, More Crimes, and a Star-Studded Lineup
This season, Lyonne’s character Charlie Cale continues her cross-country trek in her signature Plymouth Barracuda, once again using her uncanny ability to detect lies to unravel bizarre murder cases in equally unusual places. According to Johnson and Lyonne, Charlie’s road-trip detective saga will take her from funeral homes to alligator farms, and even a grade school talent show.
Season 2 ups the ante with a massive roster of celebrity guest stars. Highlights include Cynthia Erivo as identical sextuplets, John Mulaney as an FBI agent, and appearances from Awkwafina, B.J. Novak, Giancarlo Esposito, Ben Marshall, Carol Kane, Ego Nwodim, Gaby Hoffmann, and Method Man.
The trailer also teases cameos from Kumail Nanjiani, Jason Ritter, Katie Holmes, Patti Harrison, Simon Helberg, Rhea Perlman, Taylor Schilling, and many more. With such a diverse and unexpected ensemble, Season 2 promises even more twists, humor, and edge-of-your-seat storytelling.
A Critical Hit Returns with Even Higher Stakes
Season 1 of Poker Face earned four Emmy nominations, including a win for Judith Light, who received the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. The show was praised for its fresh take on the classic “case-of-the-week” formula, sharp writing, and Lyonne’s compelling performance.
The new season continues to blend dark comedy with emotionally grounded storytelling. Johnson and Lyonne shared in a statement: “In Season 2 we’ve taken Charlie’s journey to the next level — one murder mystery at a time.”
Behind the Scenes: Production and Creative Team
Tony Tost helms the show as showrunner and executive producer. Returning executive producers include Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin, and writing duo Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. T-Street, MRC, and Animal Pictures produce Poker Face.
As anticipation builds for its May release, Poker Face Season 2 is already shaping up to be a must-watch series on Peacock this spring.
