Michael Fassbender on His James Bond Audition: “I Was Promoting Daniel Craig Instead of Myself”

🎭 What happens when you hype up your competition during an audition? Michael Fassbender knows firsthand! The X-Men and Prometheus star recently revealed that during his James Bond audition for Casino Royale (2006), he inadvertently promoted Daniel Craig instead of himself.

What Happened?

🕶️ Fassbender met with James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli & Michael G. Wilson before Craig was cast.
🎙️ On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he admitted:

“I don’t know why I was promoting [Daniel Craig], I should have been promoting myself.”
😂 He even called himself “terrible at auditions” and recalled a bad experience auditioning for Mad Max: Fury Road.
