Jennifer Lopez to Star in Netflix Thriller ‘The Last Mrs. Parrish’ Directed by Robert Zemeckis

Netflix Greenlights Psychological Thriller Adaptation of Bestselling Novel

Jennifer Lopez is teaming up with legendary filmmaker Robert Zemeckis for a gripping new Netflix original: an adaptation of the bestselling psychological thriller The Last Mrs. Parrish. The project, currently in development, is based on the hit novel by Liv Constantine, and will feature Lopez in the lead role of a cunning con artist with a chilling agenda.

Lopez, whose production company Nuyorican Productions is behind the film, will co-produce alongside Liza Chasin of 3dot Productions, Molly Sims of Something Happy Productions, and her longtime collaborators Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina. The script is being written by Oscar nominees Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) and John Gatins, reuniting Gatins with Zemeckis after their work on Flight.

A Deceptive Tale of Obsession and Power

In The Last Mrs. Parrish, Lopez plays a scheming woman who infiltrates the life of a wealthy Connecticut couple, the Parrishes, under false pretenses. By befriending the seemingly perfect wife and seducing the husband, she plots to take over the luxurious life she envies. But her dream of becoming the next Mrs. Parrish soon unravels into a web of secrets and unexpected danger.

The original novel was a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick in 2018 and has sold over a million copies worldwide. It has been published in more than 30 countries, making it one of the most widely read thrillers of the last decade.

Robert Zemeckis Returns to Psychological Drama

Zemeckis, known for directing iconic films like Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and Back to the Future, is returning to the suspense genre that brought critical acclaim to his earlier work, such as What Lies Beneath and Allied. His most recent film, Here, starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, was released by Sony Pictures and Miramax and received a strong festival run, including the closing night slot at the Chicago Film Festival, where Zemeckis was honored with the Founder’s Award.

Netflix Continues Its Winning Streak With Lopez

The film is part of Jennifer Lopez’s ongoing partnership with Netflix, under which she is developing a slate of movies and series that prioritize diverse female-driven storytelling. Her previous Netflix hits include the action thriller The Mother and the upcoming sci-fi feature Atlas.

Netflix is also collaborating with producer Liza Chasin on several projects, including The Life List, which starred Sofia Carson and topped the Netflix Global Top 10 for three consecutive weeks.

Lopez is also fresh off her acclaimed role in Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Bill Condon, which premiered at Sundance and is set for an awards-season theatrical release this fall.

With a powerhouse cast, celebrated source material, and a proven director at the helm, The Last Mrs. Parrish is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated thrillers on Netflix’s upcoming release slate.
