Miramax is bringing back Jason Statham for The Beekeeper 2, a sequel to the 2024 action hit that grossed $162.6 million worldwide. Timo Tjahjanto (Nobody 2, The Night Comes for Us) is set to direct, working from a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer. Production is set to begin this fall.
A New Director for the Action-Packed Sequel
The original Beekeeper, directed by David Ayer, followed a retired intelligence operative on a brutal revenge mission after a phishing scam devastates his kind-hearted landlady. While Ayer is not directing the sequel, he is expected to return as a producer.
Amazon/MGM Studios is in discussions to distribute the film domestically, after handling the first installment during a strike-affected box office year.
Tjahjanto Brings His Signature Style
Tjahjanto, known for high-intensity action and horror films, has helmed Indonesian hits such as The Night Comes for Us, The Shadow Strays, and The Big Four on Netflix. His upcoming project, Nobody 2, starring Bob Odenkirk, Sharon Stone, and Connie Nielsen, is set for an August 15 release via Universal.

Miramax’s Expanding Slate
Miramax has been actively ramping up its projects, co-financing the international hit Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. Upcoming films include Roofman with Channing Tatum, 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank starring Liam Neeson, and a new Scary Movie installment with the Wayans Brothers.
With Statham reprising his role and Tjahjanto’s knack for intense, stylized action, The Beekeeper 2 is set to bring even more high-octane thrills to audiences.
