Hollywood is gearing up to unwrap the story of one of America’s most iconic chocolate moguls. A new live-action film titled Hershey is set to chronicle the life of Milton S. Hershey, the visionary behind the world-famous Hershey chocolate brand. The movie will star Finn Wittrock as Milton Hershey and Alexandra Daddario as his wife, Catherine “Kitty” Hershey. The film will be directed by Mark Waters, best known for Mean Girls and Freaky Friday.
A Sweet Legacy: From Chocolate Bars to Humanitarian Impact
Slated to begin filming in May 2025 across various Pennsylvania locations, Hershey aims for a 2026 release to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States. The film currently has no distributor attached, but its pedigree and inspirational story have already generated buzz.
Produced by Dandelion Media in collaboration with the Hershey Entities, Aloe Entertainment, Peachtree Group, and RCM3, the film will explore how Milton and Kitty Hershey’s empire was built not only on confections but also on compassion. In 1909, the couple established the Hershey Industrial School, now the Milton Hershey School, providing free education and housing to orphaned and underprivileged children. Today, the school boasts one of the largest educational endowments in the country, a legacy that continues to benefit thousands.
A Film Rooted in Generosity and Purpose
“Milton achieved extraordinary success, but unlike many wealthy men of his era, he invested in people,” said director Mark Waters. “At the heart of Hershey is a powerful love story between Milton and Catherine — a partnership that gave rise to an enduring legacy.”
The production will spotlight how the Hersheys didn’t just create chocolate bars; they also built an entire community around their factory in Pennsylvania. The town featured theaters, public transport, and recreational facilities — all designed to improve the lives of workers and their families.
Star Power Behind and In Front of the Camera
The film’s creative team includes producers Sharon Paul, Mark Tilghman, Mary Aloe, Joshua Harris, and Will Hardy. Executive producers include Daniel Hank, Joseph Lanius, Flip & Susan Flippen, and Joanne Marlowe. The Hershey film will be represented internationally by UTA Independent Film Group.
Wittrock is repped by CAA, Mosaic, and Weissenbach Management, while Daddario is managed by CAA and Untitled Entertainment. Waters continues to be represented by UTA.
Hershey’s Vision Still Resonates
Michele Buck, CEO of The Hershey Company, emphasized that the film reflects a broader story than just chocolate. “This movie will reveal how Milton and Kitty built something far greater than a chocolate company. Their legacy touches education, community, and opportunity for thousands,” she said. “We’re proud to support a film that tells this powerful and inspiring story.”
Pete Gurt, president of Milton Hershey School and an alumnus, added: “Milton and Catherine Hershey’s greatest accomplishment wasn’t chocolate — it was creating a home and a future for generations of children. This film captures that enduring legacy of generosity and impact.”
As anticipation builds for the film’s release, Hershey is poised to be more than just a biopic — it’s a celebration of love, resilience, and the sweet success that comes from giving back.
