Director David Leitch and his 87North production banner are teaming up with Amazon MGM Studios and Imagine Entertainment for an electrifying new heist thriller.
Amazon has secured the untitled crime-action film, which is expected to be Leitch’s next directorial venture. Known for high-energy blockbusters like Bullet Train, Deadpool 2, and last year’s stunt-driven spectacle The Fall Guy, Leitch will also produce alongside his wife and producing partner Kelly McCormick, as well as Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum from Imagine Entertainment.
A High-Tech Heist Story
Plot details remain under wraps, but sources reveal that the story follows a group of tech-savvy bank robbers who document their heists on social media, turning their crimes into a public spectacle while playing a high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse with law enforcement.
The script comes from Mark Bianculli, co-creator of NBC’s Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector. According to insiders, Bianculli and Imagine Entertainment have been developing the project for nearly a decade.
A Continued Partnership
This film marks another collaboration between Imagine and Amazon, following the upcoming thriller After the Hunt, starring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield, set for release on October 10. The studios also recently released Frida, a documentary about artist Frida Kahlo.
Bianculli’s Expanding Portfolio
In addition to co-creating Lincoln Rhyme, Bianculli served as a writer and producer on Amazon’s Hunters and contributed to Fox’s medical drama Doc. On the film side, he penned the upcoming Cliffhanger reboot, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and starring Pierce Brosnan and Lily James.
Bianculli is represented by WME, TFC Management, and attorney Dean Bahat at Ziffren Brittenham.
Leitch and 87North’s Busy Slate
87North recently produced the Ke Huy Quan action film Love Hurts and has Nobody 2 slated for release on August 15.
Leitch is represented by CAA and JSSK.
